Gonn Crossing closes for maintenance
21 December 2015
Roads and Maritime Services advises motorists of changed traffic conditions with maintenance work scheduled to start in January on Gonn Crossing, about three kilometres north of Murrabit.
“The $850,000 upgrade has been planned to provide a safer journey for motorists using the Murray River crossing,” a Roads and Maritime Services spokesperson said.
“Roads and Maritime is continuing the work which started in early September to repair the lift span and bridge deck, to reduce future maintenance requirements.
“The bridge is about three kilometres north of Murrabit and residents and motorists are advised it will be closed on weekdays from Tuesday 5 to Friday 22 January between 8am and 5pm."These closures were originally planned for November to minimise the impact on harvest season but were postponed due to emergency repairs on Swan Hill Bridge."
Motorists will be detoured via Barham Koondrook Bridge and should allow an extra 45 minutes travel time.
“Traffic control and reduced speed limits will be in place for the safety of workers and motorists.
Roads and Maritime thanks the community for its patience while work is completed.
