New 10 km/h shared zone for Kiaora Lane improves safety for pedestrians in Double Bay
23 December 2015
A 10 km/h shared zone has been introduced to Kiaora Lane in Double Bay to improve safety for pedestrians.
"The NSW Government partnered with Woollahra Council on the project which aims to improve safety for pedestrians and motorists,” a Roads and Maritime Services spokesperson said.
“Roads and Maritime Services is working with Council to ensure pedestrians have a safer, low speed environment in this busy business and leisure precinct in Double Bay.
“Motorists and cyclists will be required to give way to pedestrians in the shared zone and obey the 10 km/h speed limit, reduced from 50 km/h.
“The new speed limit and give way to pedestrian signs are expected to be installed from Thursday 24 December, weather permitting.
“Community members are invited to sign up at www.saferroadsnsw.com.au to receive updates about changes to permanent speed limits in their local area.”
Roads and Maritime thanks motorists and residents for their patience while this important safety initiative was carried out.
