Changed traffic conditions as work continues on new Windang Bridge shared pathway
22 APRIL 2016
Motorists are advised of changed traffic conditions on Windang Bridge on Windang Road as work continues to improve conditions for pedestrians and cyclists as part of the NSW Government’s regional cycleway program.
The NSW Government allocated $3.57 million to widen the paths on both sides of the bridge from 1.5 to 2.5 metres to allow extra room for cyclists and pedestrians and work started in February this year.
Changed traffic conditions will be in place from Wednesday 27 April until mid-July, with work carried out on the western footpath, which will be closed. During this time motorists travelling south will not be able to change lanes while driving across the bridge.
Pedestrians and cyclists will be directed to use the eastern footpath for the duration of the work.
Lane closures and a reduced road work speed limit of 40 km/h will be in place on weekdays between 6am and 3pm on for the safety of workers and motorists.
Two lanes will remain open to northbound traffic between 6am and 9.30am, with only one southbound lane in place between 6am and 9.30am.
One lane will remain open to traffic in each direction between 9.30am and 3pm.
All lanes will be open outside of work hours.
Roads and Maritime Services thank the community for its patience while work takes place.
