Community feedback sought on Airport North road upgrades
24 MAY 2016
Community members are invited to view and provide feedback on the concept design and Review of Environmental Factors for the Airport North road upgrades.
A Roads and Maritime Services spokesperson said the work would be delivered as part of the NSW Government’s $500 million joint package with Sydney Airport to improve travel times and reduce congestion around the airport precinct.
“Sydney Airport and Port Botany are two of the state’s most important international gateways facilitating the movement of people and goods,” the spokesperson said.
“Roads and Maritime Services is planning to upgrade roads north of Sydney’s Kingsford Smith Airport to improve traffic flow and connections to the airport and Port Botany.
“This includes widening O’Riordan Street to three lanes in each direction between Bourke Road and Robey Street.
“The work would complement a package of projects aimed at relieving congestion around the airport precinct being delivered by Sydney Airport and the NSW Government.
“Work is well under way to add a third westbound lane on Marsh Street and is on track to be completed by mid-next year.
“Preparation work is also being carried out by ARTC so an underpass beneath the rail line can be built to link General Holmes Drive, Botany Road and Wentworth Avenue.
“Two community information sessions will be held where community members can learn more about the Airport North project.
“The first will be held on Saturday 28 May from 10am to midday at Eastlakes Community Hall at 2 Florence Avenue at Eastlakes.
“A session will also be held on Thursday 2 June from 5pm to 7pm at the same location.
“Copies of the Review of Environmental Factors and concept design will be available at City of Botany Bay Council Administration Centre, Mascot Library and on the project website.
“Feedback can be submitted by Monday 13 June to email@example.com or Roads and Maritime services PO Box 973 Parramatta CBD NSW 2124.”
