Community drop-in session for Harwood site compound and closure of Pacific Highway southbound ramps at Harwood
16 SEPTEMBER 2016
The Woolgoolga to Ballina Pacific Highway upgrade team is inviting members of the community interested in the site compound and traffic changes proposed for the new bridge over the Clarence River at Harwood to a community information session next week.
The drop in session will be held at Harwood Community Hall, 18 River Street Harwood on Thursday 22 September from 2.30pm to 7.30pm.
As part of work to build the longest bridge of the 155 kilometre upgrade a site compound is proposed to be established at Watts Lane.
This site would include offices for staff, a concrete facility to build bridges beams, a concrete batch plant and storage area.
The upgrade also requires the closure of the southbound on and off ramps at Harwood from 15 October.
Closing the ramps at Harwood is necessary to build the new bridge in the safest and most efficient way and ensure safe separation between local traffic, work vehicles and heavy machinery.
The ramps at Harwood are proposed to be closed from all access points on Petticoat Lane and River Street with alternative access via Watts Lane, Harwood Mill Road and River Street.
The area will then become an active work site for the Woolgoolga to Ballina project with road closure signs in place.
The drop in session will provide an informal opportunity to discuss the Watts Lane site compound, upcoming traffic changes and discuss any queries with members of the project team.
