New temporary speed limit on the M2 Motorway

28 FEBRUARY 2016

Motorists are advised a new temporary 80 km/h speed limit will be in place on the M2 Motorway eastbound at West Pennant Hills from tomorrow as part of work for the NorthConnex project.

A Roads and Maritime Services spokesperson said the new temporary speed limit will be in force from the Pennant Hills Road intersection for about one kilometre from Wednesday 1 March for about 12 months.

“Work on the NorthConnex tunnel involves modifications to the Hills M2 Motorway to create the northbound entry to the NorthConnex tunnel and the cycleway structure,” the spokesperson said.

“For the safety of road users, the speed limit will be reduced from 100km/h to 80km/h on a one kilometre section of the motorway.

“Once complete, these modifications will enable eastbound traffic from the motorway to enter the NorthConnex tunnel and cycleway structure.”

Motorists are advised that the new temporary speed limit is enforceable.

Roads and Maritime Services thanks the community for its patience while work is carried out.
