Plan ahead for road closures this weekend on Wakehurst Parkway at Frenchs Forest
9 AUGUST 2017
Motorists are advised of changed traffic conditions this weekend on Wakehurst Parkway at Frenchs Forest to carry out essential work as part of the $500 million Northern Beaches Hospital road upgrade.
A Roads and Maritime Services spokesperson said Wakehurst Parkway will be temporarily closed between Warringah Road and Frenchs Forest Road from 8pm Friday 11 to 5am Monday 14 August for the safety of workers and motorists while work is carried out.
“Traffic will be heavy and delays are expected so all motorists travelling through the area should plan ahead and allow extra travel time this weekend,” the spokesperson said.
“Motorists are advised to use alternative routes including Warringah Road, Forest Way, Pittwater Road and Mona Vale Road.
“Essential work including installing drainage, pavement work, building the median along Wakehurst Parkway and line marking will be carried out during the closure.
“The work will generate some noise and every effort will be made to minimise impact to the community. Noise mats will be used to dampen noise and vehicles will be turned off when not in use.”
The spokesperson said electronic message signs, temporary signage and traffic controllers will alert road users to the temporary changes on Wakehurst Parkway.
“Motorists should drive to the conditions and follow the direction of signs and traffic control while work is carried out,” the spokesperson said.
Roads and Maritime thanks the community for its patience while work is carried out.
