Have your say on Northconnex urban design and landscape plan stage two
31 August 2017
Stage Two of the NorthConnex Urban Design and Landscape Plan (UDLP) is now available with the community invited to have their say on the final look of the $3 billion project.
A Roads and Maritime Services spokesperson said interested members of the public will be able to see what the proposed final design of the permanent NorthConnex facilities will look like and have an opportunity to provide feedback.
“Stage Two of the UDLP includes the design for the motorway control centre, emergency extraction and ventilation facilities, tunnel portals and landscaping,” the spokesperson said.
“The draft designs were put through rigorous independent review and the colours were chosen to best integrate the new facilities into their local surroundings.
“The project team took inspiration from the urban landscape in the south at West Pennant Hills and the greenery of the north along the M1 Motorway in Wahroonga and reflected this in the facilities along the corridor.
“During the next four weeks residents and stakeholders will have the opportunity to provide feedback on the design and community members are encouraged to be part of the process which will shape the final look of the project.
“All feedback will be carefully considered and a submissions report prepared for the approval of the Department of Planning and Environment.”
The NorthConnex UDLP Stage One was approved in May 2017 and included the design principles and elements such as noise barriers, bridges, retaining walls and road signs.
Submissions to Stage Two of the UDLP will close on Saturday 30 September 2017.
The UDLP Stage Two can be viewed at NorthConnex Community Information Centre at 118 Yarrara Road, Pennant Hills 2150 or at selected local libraries, or by visiting www.northconnex.com.au/UDLP.
