Have a say on night work on King Street at Newtown
6 SEPTEMBER 2017
The community is invited to have a say on a proposal to carry out night work on King Street between Enmore and Sydney Park roads at Newtown.
A Roads and Maritime Services spokesperson said the NSW Government is funding essential maintenance work at this location to improve safety for motorists and reduce the need for ongoing future maintenance.
“Work will involve investigating utilities, repainting road markings, asphalting, paving and replacing concrete slabs along King Street at Newtown,” the spokesperson said.
“To minimise the impact to motorists, work is proposed to be carried out for up to five nights a week for 10 weeks for a total of 50 shifts, weather permitting.
“An alternative schedule involves working up to two nights a week, which would extend the project to 25 weeks.
“For both proposals work hours would be between 9pm and 5am Sunday to Thursday, excluding public holidays, with noisier activities such as saw cutting and jack hammering completed by midnight to minimise the impact to residents and businesses.”
Work is expected to start in early 2018.
Feedback on the preferred work option can be provided to the project delivery partner Ventia Boral Amey Joint Venture by Tuesday 19 September by writing to Ventia Boral Amey Joint Venture, PO Box 838 Rockdale NSW 2216 or emailing email@example.com.
