Plan ahead for changed traffic conditions on Naree Road at Frenchs Forest

7 SEPTEMBER 2017

Motorists are advised of changed traffic conditions from tomorrow on Naree Road at Frenchs Forest for essential work to be carried out as part of the Northern Beaches Hospital road upgrade.

A Roads and Maritime Services spokesperson said Naree Road will be closed to all traffic between Forest Way and Rabbett Street from 5am Friday 8 September for around four weeks for the safety of workers and motorists while work is carried out.

“Roads and Maritime Services has been relocating services along Forest Way, Naree Road, Frenchs Forest Road, Warringah Road, Wakehurst Parkway and Allambie Road as part of the road upgrade,” the spokesperson said.

“While Naree Road is closed, essential work will be carried out including installing sewer line and water main cutover, sawcutting of footpaths and driveways, installing and modifying utilities, drainage work and asphalting.

“Residential access will be maintained during the closure however all residents will only be able to drive westbound toward Forest Way.”

The spokesperson said work to establish new traffic arrangements on Naree Road will be carried out on Thursday 7 September between 8pm and 5am to minimise the impact on motorists.

“During the four week closure, motorists are advised to use alternative routes including Warringah Road, Forest Way, Wakehurst Parkway, Rabbett Street and Adams Street,” the spokesperson said.

“Motorists will not be permitted to turn left or right into Naree Road and pedestrian access will be maintained at all times.

“The work will generate some noise and every effort will be made to minimise impact to the community. Noise shields will be used to dampen noise and vehicles will be turned off when not in use.”

The spokesperson said electronic message signs, temporary signage and traffic controllers will alert road users to the temporary changes on Wakehurst Parkway.

“Motorists should drive to the conditions and follow the direction of signs and traffic control while work is carried out,” the spokesperson said.

Roads and Maritime thanks the community for its patience while work is carried out.
