Work to improve Bells Line of Road intersection at North Richmond continues

3 November 2017

Work to improve the intersection of Bells Line of Road, Grose Vale and Terrace roads at North Richmond is progressing well with the next stage of work now being carried out.

Roads and Maritime spokesperson said the NSW and Australian governments are funding this project to improve traffic conditions on approach to Richmond Bridge.

“This essential improvement work will ease congestion and improve traffic flow for motorists who use this busy intersection,” the spokesperson said.

“Crews started work at this intersection in June this year to survey the site and identify utilities in preparation for the next stage of work to be carried out.

“Work has now started to remove vegetation and relocate utilities as well as remove 21 parking spaces and relocate bus zones to allow for two westbound lanes from Pitt Lane to around 90 metres west of Grose Vale Road.

“Dedicated turning lanes on all sides of the intersection will also be installed or improved and seven 15 minute parking spaces be installed to offset the removal of longer term parking which is necessary for the improvement of the intersection.”

The spokesperson said work is scheduled to be carried out until Friday 22 December, weather permitting.
“Work will be carried out from 7am to 7pm on weekdays and 8am to 1pm on Saturdays as well as from 7pm to 7am Sunday to Friday,” the spokesperson said.

“This stage of work is expected to take around 45 day shifts and 36 night shifts to complete and may be noisy at times but all measures will be taken to minimise impact to residents and businesses.

“Traffic control and temporary lane closures will be in place for the safety of workers and motorists. The community will be kept informed as work on the improvements progress.”

Motorists are advised to drive to the conditions and follow the direction of signs and traffic control.
Roads and Maritime Services thanks the community for its patience while work is carried out.
