Free workshops for learner driver supervisors - Newcastle
13 November 2017
Roads and Maritime Services are inviting supervisors of learner drivers to attend a free workshop which will highlight how to provide effective practice sessions for those learning to drive.
“The ‘Helping Learner Drivers Become Safer Drivers’ workshop is being held at Hamilton North Bowling Club Broadmeadow on Tuesday 21 November,” the spokesperson said.
“Parents and supervisors play a vital role helping young drivers gain the skills and experience they need to be safe on the road.
“This workshop provides practical advice about the role of the supervising driver and the importance of on-road driving experience. It reinforces the role families play in providing support for young motorists in their early years of driving.”
The spokesperson said the two-hour workshop includes information about licence conditions for learner and provisional drivers, tips for using the learner driver log book and help with how to provide constructive feedback.
“Those who have attended the course found it boosted their confidence and gave them the opportunity to share their experiences with other supervisors. I strongly encourage our local community to take advantage of these workshops,” the spokesperson said.
The workshop will be held at Hamilton North Bowling Club, 31 Boreas Road at Broadmeadow on Tuesday 21 November with doors open from 5.30pm.
