Keep an eye out for changed traffic conditions on the M4 Motorway at Roper Road
17 January 2018
Motorists are advised of changed traffic conditions from tomorrow on the Roper Road entry ramp on to the M4 Motorway at Colyton for ramp widening work.
A Roads and Maritime Services spokesperson said this work is being carried out as part of the $470 million M4 Smart Motorway project which aims to reduce stop-start traffic, improve travel times and provide a smoother journey for motorists.
“Once complete, this project will provide a more consistent and reliable journey for the thousands of motorists who use the M4 Motorway each day,” the spokesperson said.
“The eastbound Roper Road entry ramp at Colyton will be closed for two nights from tomorrow between 9pm and 5am to allow crews to install temporary barriers and signage as well as carry out drainage work, earth work and pavement work.
“Work on entry ramp widening will continue until the end of March and motorists are reminded a reduced speed limit of 80 km/h will be in place between the Roper Road entry ramp and M7 Motorway exit ramp while work is carried out.
“While the entry ramp is closed, motorists will be detoured via the Great Western Highway which may affect travel times.
“Traffic may be heavy and delays are expected so all motorists travelling through this area should plan ahead and allow extra travel time.
“The work may generate some noise but every effort will be made to minimise impact to the community.”
The spokesperson said work will be carried for up to 63 night shifts until Friday 23 March from 6pm to 7am Sunday to Friday, weather permitting.
Roads and Maritime Services will continue to work with the community and thanks it for its patience while work is carried out.
