Improvements on the way for Forest Road at Penshurst
21 April 2018
Motorists and public transport users will soon be able to enjoy a smoother journey along Forest Road at Penshurst with improvements under way along the busy stretch of road in Sydney’s south.
A Roads and Maritime Services spokesperson said new No Stopping signs will soon be introduced westbound on Forest Road for a length of 20 metres before Inverness Avenue to improve traffic for motorists and bus users outside of clearway hours.
“Introducing No Stopping signs on this key transport corridor through Sydney will reduce congestion for motorists and improve journey reliability,” the spokesperson said.
“The project is being delivered as part of the Bus Priority Infrastructure Program which aims to improve the reliability of bus services on Sydney’s main bus corridors.
“With No Stopping signs installed, buses and general traffic travelling westbound will be able to move past vehicles waiting to turn right on to Inverness Avenue with fewer delays.”
For the benefit of motorists, work on the project will carried out for up to five shifts between 30 April and 4 May from 7pm to 5am Sunday to Friday, weather permitting. Work will also be carried out during the day from 7am to 6 pm on weekdays.
Motorists are advised to drive to the conditions and follow the direction of signs and traffic control.
Roads and Maritime Services thanks the community for its patience while work is carried out.
