New school zone for Zahra Grammar School at Minto
1 May 2018
Motorists are advised of changed traffic conditions outside Zahra Grammar School at Minto with a new school zone being installed this month.
A Roads and Maritime Services spokesperson said signs will be installed for a new 40 km/h school zone on a section of Westmoreland Road between Eagleview Road and Kemp Place.
“School zones help protect children on their way to and from school at times and places where they are often present in high numbers,” the spokesperson said.
“In general 40 km/h school zones are provided on roads with an active direct access point from the school.
“This lower speed limit will reduce the risk and potential severity of a crash.
“The 40km/h school zone will operate between 8am and 9.30am and 2.30pm to 4pm on gazetted school days.
“Motorists are reminded to drive to the speed limits at all times for the safety of all road users,” the spokesperson said.
Work to install the signs will be carried out from Wednesday 9 May and is expected to take up to three days to complete, weather permitting.
Community members can sign up at the Safer Roads NSW website to receive updates about changes to permanent speed limits in their nominated area.
