Plan ahead of major work on Lawrence Hargrave Drive at Clifton
9 May 2018
Lawrence Hargrave Drive will temporarily close to traffic in both directions later this month for work to improve slope stability and road user safety.
The NSW Government has provided $1.5 million for essential safety work to be carried out south of the old Imperial Hotel at Clifton.
“Work will involve installing new drains, repairing slopes and stormwater drains which will improve road user safety,” A Roads and Maritime Services spokesperson said.
“The work which started on Monday 23 April is being carried out in stages to reduce the impact to the community and is expected to be completed this month.
“The road will be closed for two weeks while the second stage of work, which involves installing drains beneath the road, takes place.”
The spokesperson said the road will be closed from 6pm on Sunday 27 May until 2.30pm on Friday 1 June and again from 6pm on Sunday 3 June to 2.30pm on Friday 8 June.
“During this stage of the project work will be carried out during the day and at night so it can be completed as quickly as possible to reduce the impact to the community.
“During the closures detours will be via the M1 Princes Motorway and Bulli Pass and motorists should plan their journey and allow up to 30 minutes extra travel time.”
Roads and Maritime thanks the community for its patience while this important work takes place.
