Safety improvement work on Henry Parry Drive at Gosford
10 May 2018
Motorists will soon benefit from a safer experience through Henry Parry Drive at Gosford.
The NSW Government has provided $500,000 as part of the Safer Roads Program to improve safety between Margin Street and Georgiana Terrace.
A Roads and Maritime Services spokesperson said in the five years to June 2015, there were 19 crashes on this part of road with 16 of these crashes resulting in injury.
“This safety improvement work involves installing barriers to improve safety and help reduce the risk of head-on crashes by preventing vehicles from crossing over to the wrong side of the road,” the spokesperson said.
“Work also involves installing low level concrete median barriers on the existing painted markings and installing vehicle activated signs that display safety messages and symbols to alert motorists.
“After feedback from community consultation held in November last year, the proposed design of the concrete medians was changed to now maintain access to all driveways in the project area.”
Motorists are advised of changed traffic conditions from this Sunday on Henry Parry Drive, between Margin Street and Georgiana Terrace, to carry out this safety improvement work.
Initial investigations will be carried out on Sunday 13 May between 7pm and 5am. Work will then start from Sunday 20 May and is expected to be completed in early June, weather permitting.
To minimise motorist impact, work will be carried out at night from 7pm to 5am between Sunday and Thursday.
For motorist and worker safety, traffic control and a reduced speed limit of 40 km/h will be in place. Motorists are advised to drive to the conditions, and follow the direction of signs and traffic control.
Roads and Maritime Services thanks motorists for their patience during this time.
