Closure of Tilpa Bridge across Darling River for essential maintenance work

22 May 2018

Motorists are advised the Tilpa Bridge across the Darling River at Tilpa will be closed to all traffic from this Friday for maintenance work to be carried out.

A Roads and Maritime Services spokesperson said work started in March and involves bridge truss repairs, resetting and rehabilitating the bridge bearings and restoration of joints to improve the bridge’s functionality.

"Work also includes maintenance work such as minor concrete repairs, installation of kerb returns for improved drainage, minor vegetation clearing, bridge deck sweeping and repairs to the bridge ends," the spokesperson said.

"To ensure these repairs are completed as safely and efficiently as possible, the bridge will be closed to all traffic from Friday 25 to Monday 28 May between 7am and 5pm.

"The bridge will be closed to all traffic again from Friday 22 to Sunday 24 June between 7am and 5pm, weather permitting.

"During the closure, traffic will be detoured and routes will be sign posted."

Motorists should plan their trip via alternate routes, allow extra travel time and follow the direction of all signs.

Motorists are thanked for their patience during this important bridge upgrade work, which is expected to be completed at the end of June.
