23 May 2018
Important work to improve road user safety on Lawrence Hargrave Drive south of the old Imperial Hotel will soon enter the next stage.
The NSW Government has provided $1 million for the maintenance work which involves repairing slopes beside the busy thoroughfare and placing drains underneath the road.
“Lawrence Hargrave Drive is a vital connection for the northern Illawarra region which is why this work is important to improve safety for the community,” a Roads and Maritime Services spokesperson said.
“Work in the road shoulders has been carried out since Monday 23 April and now the next stage of work is about to get under way.”
Work will start at 6pm on Sunday 27 May and be carried out until 2.30pm on Friday 1 June and be carried out again from 6pm on Sunday 3 June to 2.30pm on Friday 8 June.
“So this stage of work can be completed as safely and efficiently as possible, the road will be closed to traffic in both directions during work hours,” the spokesperson said.
“This maintenance work is being carried out in stages and the road will be open to traffic on weekends to reduce the impact to motorists.
“During the closures detours will be in place via the M1 Princes Motorway and Bulli Pass and all road users should plan their journey and allow extra travel time.
“Roads and Maritime thanks the community for its patience.”
