Traffic flow to be improved around Castle Towers

1 November 2018

Motorists will soon be able to enjoy a more efficient trip around Castle Towers shopping centre, with new weekend and extended weekday clearways in operation from mid November.

A Roads and Maritime Services spokesperson said new and extended clearways will be introduced on Cecil Avenue, Terminus Street, Old Northern Road, Pennant Street and McMullen Avenue between Showground Road and Castle Hill Road at Castle Hill to maintain traffic flow around the busy shopping precinct.

“These clearways will be in place from Monday 12 November and will operate in both directions from 6am to 7pm on weekdays and from 9am to 6pm on weekends and public holidays,” the spokesperson said.

“These clearways will be welcome in the lead up to the busy Christmas shopping period.

“The new weekend and extended weekday clearways will aim to improve journey time reliability for the 28,000 motorists who travel on this corridor each day which means less time in traffic and more time for motorists to do the things they enjoy.”

The spokesperson said the NSW Government is funding this project as part of its program to reduce congestion and delays on Sydney’s roads.

“Motorists use these roads to travel between Castle Hill, West Pennant Hills and Baulkham Hills to access Castle Towers, Castle Hill Library and Castle Hill Public School so this is great news for the thousands of motorists who travel along this busy corridor,” the spokesperson said.

“While parking and stopping is currently not permitted outside of the existing 6am to10am and 3pm to 7pm weekday clearways, extending the clearways ensures illegally parked cars can be removed quickly which maximises road space for all motorists.

“Existing parking restrictions will continue to apply outside of the clearway hours.”

The spokesperson said work to install the new clearway signs and posts will be carried out between Tuesday 6 and Sunday 11 November from 8pm to 5am, weather permitting.
