Code of conduct and ethics

The Code of Conduct and Ethics sets out the ethical principles and professional standards of conduct for Roads and Maritime Services employees.

The Code is not intended to be a comprehensive set of rules but rather a set of principles that form an ethical framework for conduct and behaviour in Roads and Maritime Services workplace.

It provides guidance for Roads and Maritime Services staff on how to:

  • Carry out their duties in a lawful and ethical way
  • Interact with other Roads and Maritime Services staff and members of the public in a fair and courteous manner.

The key principles that all Roads and Maritime Services staff, as public sector employees, should aspire to are:

  • Honesty
  • Courage

The Code of Conduct and Ethics covers all permanent, temporary, casual, skill-hire and contract staff. The Code of Conduct and Ethics also applies to staff on secondment from other NSW Government agencies. The Statement of Business Ethics applies to tenderers, consultants and contractors.
