NSW guidelines for bicycle road races

Roads and Maritime Services, the NSW Police Force and Cycling NSW has compiled the guidelines to outline the process for obtaining approval to conduct bicycle racing on roads and highways in NSW; and explains the minimum requirements for conducting a bicycle race.

Included in the guidelines:

  • Traffic control plans and signage
  • Traffic controllers and required training
  • Race planning
  • Traffic management requirements

These guidelines do not address non-competitive bicycle rides. The arrangements for these are covered in the NSW Guide to Traffic and Transport Management for Special Events.
