Maps and approved roads lists

A number of network maps and approved roads lists are available for road freight transport vehicles, special purpose vehicles and load carrying vehicles.

Restricted Access Vehicle (RAV) maps and lists

The RAV maps and lists provide details on the roads and zones approved for:

  • General Mass Limits (GML) B-doubles (19m B-doubles operating at greater than 50 tonnes, 23m B-doubles and 25/26m B-doubles)
  • GML Type 1 A-double road trains
  • 4.6m high vehicles
  • GML modular B-triples
  • GML B-triples
  • GML AB-triples
  • GML Type 2 A-triple road trains.

Please note: The published maps and/or approved road lists are the legally enforceable network in NSW.

Heavy vehicles operating at CML can access the approved GML networks provided they comply with Schedule 2 CML in the Heavy Vehicle (Mass, Dimension and Loading) National Regulation and meet the relevant GML access conditions.

IAP maps and lists

The IAP map and approved roads lists provide details on the roads approved for the vehicles that require IAP as a condition of access:

  • Higher Mass Limits (HML) vehicles (short combinations, 25/26m B-doubles)
  • High risk mobile cranes
  • HML Type 1 A-double road trains
  • HML modular B-triple road trains
  • HML B-triple road trains
  • HML AB-triple road trains

NSW Grain Harvest Management Scheme (GHMS) map

The GHMS map provides details of the approved and excluded areas/routes and conditions of access for eligible heavy vehicles operating under the New South Wales Class 3 Grain Harvest Management Scheme Mass Exemption (Notice) 2014.

NSW Livestock Loading Scheme (NSWLLS) maps

The NSWLLS map provides details on the roads and zones approved for vehicles under the NSWLLS carrying livestock loads:

  • Single articulated combinations
  • B-doubles (19m B-doubles, 23m B-doubles and 25/26m B-doubles)
  • Road trains (Type 1 A-Doubles, B-triples and AB-triples).

NSW Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) Network map

The NSW SPV Network map provides details of the approved roads as well as conditions of access and travel restrictions for eligible special purpose vehicles operating under the National Class 1 Special Purpose Vehicle Notice.

The NSW SPV Network map, if listed as the approved route on an access permit or IAP Certificate of Enrolment, also provides the approved routes for a special purpose vehicle. Please note that access permits issued under co-delegation by Roads and Maritime Services are for travel on Roads and Maritime managed roads only (ie State Roads).

NSW Oversize Overmass Load Carrying Vehicles Network map

The NSW Oversize Overmass Load Carrying Vehicles Network map provides details of the approved roads as well as restricted structures for eligible load carrying vehicles operating under the Multi-State Class 1 Load Carrying Vehicles Mass Exemption Notice and the Multi-State Class 1 Load Carrying Vehicles Dimension Exemption Notice.

The NSW Oversize Overmass Load Carrying Vehicles Network map, if listed as the approved route on an access permit, also provides the approved routes for an eligible load carrying vehicle. Please note that access permits issued under co-delegation by Roads and Maritime Services are for travel on Roads and Maritime managed roads only (ie State Roads).

Performance Based Standards (PBS) map

The PBS map shows the approved network routes for eligible PBS vehicles/combinations operating in NSW under an access permit issued by the NHVR or a National PBS Notice.
