Supplements to Austroads Guides
Austroads is the association of Australian and New Zealand road transport and traffic authorities and includes the six Australian state and two territory road transport and traffic authorities, Australian Department of Infrastructure and Transport, Australian Local Government Association, and New Zealand Transport Agency.
On the 1 July 2009, Austroads formally launched a comprehensive set of technical guides covering the design, construction, maintenance, operation and safety of Australian and New Zealand road networks in the following subject areas:

- Guide to Pavement Technology (10 parts)
- Guide to Project Delivery (4 Parts)
- Guide to Project Evaluation (8 Parts)
- Guide to Road Design (8 Parts)

- Guide to Traffic Management (13 Parts)
- Guide to Road Tunnels
To address specific issues concerning the design, construction, maintenance, operation and safety of road network issues in New South Wales, Roads and Maritime Services has produced a range of mandatory Roads and Maritime Services Austroads Supplements in a number of the above subject areas.

Roads and Maritime Services Austroads Supplements are policy documents within the meaning of the Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009 (NSW)("GIPA Act") and these documents are accordingly made available to you pursuant to Section 6(1) of the GIPA Act.
Consistent with the GIPA Act, the purposes for which these documents have been made available to you are:
- to satisfy RMS' obligation under Section 6(1) of the GIPA Act to make its policy documents available for inspection and purchase by members of the public; and
- to ensure that you, as a member of the public who may be affected by the operation of this document, have access to the document.
Roads and Maritime Services carries out planning and design of new infrastructure as well as rehabilitation, maintenance and/or other works for existing infrastructure under the supervision of trained and experienced professional engineers.
By complying with the Austroads Guides and Roads and Maritime Services Austroads Supplements, any planning and design for new infrastructure as well as rehabilitation, maintenance, inspection or other works carried out internally or by others for Roads and Maritime Services will have consistency in terms of quality, aesthetics or efficient use of resources as required by Roads and Maritime Services. Roads and Maritime Services does not use Austroads Guides and Roads and Maritime Services Austroads Supplements for any other purpose and does not consider them suitable for use for any other purpose.
If you use these documents for any purpose which is not consistent with the above (including, without limitation, for carrying out any investigations, design, construction, engineering, maintenance, inspections or other work), you do so at your own risk.
