Roads and Maritime Services procedure for Aboriginal cultural heritage consultation and investigation

Summary

The 'Roads and Maritime Services Procedure for Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Consultation and Investigation' has been produced in recognition of the fact that the development and delivery of Roads and Maritime Services’ (RMS) projects have the potential to impact on Aboriginal cultural heritage.

RMS needs to manage the impact of its activities and meet its legislative responsibilities in an appropriate, practical and culturally sensitive manner.

This procedure provides a process to ensure that the views of Aboriginal people regarding Aboriginal cultural heritage matters are considered and respected during project development and implementation.

The procedure comprises a four-stage assessment process and supporting resources.

For further information on the procedure, please contact Denis Gojak, Senior Environmental Specialist (Heritage) on (02) 8588 5754 or Denis.Gojak@rms.nsw.gov.au.
