You have a right to access information that Roads and Maritime Services holds about you.
The most common type of request for personal information is for driver licence, motor vehicle registration details, or for information about traffic offences, class of licence, date of issue, renewal payment details and demerit points which have been accrued by a person.

The prescribed fee is currently $21 (clause 175 and Schedule 1 of the Road Transport (General) Regulation 2005).
Should you require a certified copy of this information, the fee is currently $28 (subclause 103(3) and Schedule 3 of the Road Transport (Driver Licensing) Regulation 2008).
However, if you require copies of specific documents, or wish to obtain information about another person, you may wish to make an access application under the Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009 (GIPA Act).
What to do if you think your personal records are wrong!
If you believe that personal information about you which is held by RMS is incomplete, incorrect, out of date or misleading please immediately update or correct it by:
- attending an RMS motor registry, Maritime office or Service NSW office;
- contacting the RMS contact centre on 132212; or
- visiting online services at www.myrta.com
Please note that some adjustments to your records may require supporting documentation.
