Roads and Maritime Services is supporting the new National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) to process notices and permits for heavy vehicles in NSW and national road freight.
On 10 February, under new national laws, the NHVR became responsible for developing and publishing notices and for processing and issuing permit applications.
Roads and Maritime Services is supporting the process and has provided two Roads and Maritime permit experts to Queensland to help review NSW applications.
Roads and Maritime is taking all steps to ensure permit applications received from the NHVR are fast-tracked for assessment and access to the state road network.
Heavy vehicle operators should continue to lodge access permit requests to the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator, but in the event of a delay or confusion please don’t hesitate to contact the RMS at email@example.com about the status of your applications.
Roads and Maritime Services is continuing to identify and investigate potential improvements to the NHVR permit process and is working closely with the NHVR.
