Getting your driver licence

Getting your driver licence

This Guide has been produced to assist new drivers, their parents and tutors to understand the graduated licensing scheme and the special conditions that apply to new drivers in New South Wales.
The graduated licensing scheme requires a progressive improvement in skills for new drivers to move from a learner licence through a two-stage provisional licence to the full licence level.
On 1 July 2013 the legal speed limit for all New South Wales learner drivers was increased to 90km/h.
On 3 May 2004 the legal alcohol limit in NSW for all learner and provisional (P1 and P2) licence holders became zero.
