Clyde River, Batemans Bay
Daylight hours – From Monday 6 June 2016 for approximately 16 weeks.
Roads and Maritime Services advises vessel operators that maintenance works will be conducted on the Clyde River bridge (Princes’ Highway) during daylight hours from Monday 6 June 2016. It is expected that the works will be completed in 16 weeks, weather permitting.
The bridge maintenance work includes the replacement of the mechanical and electrical components of the bridge lift span and further general bridge maintenance.
From Thursday 31 August 2016, the marked navigable channel under the bridge will be reopened.
The adjacent bridge span to the south (span 7) will be closed to navigation from Friday 1 September for approximately three weeks, depending on weather conditions.
Vessel operators are advised to exercise caution when navigating in the vicinity and to pay particular attention to spans of the bridge that are closed (blocked) to navigation and the presence of floating equipment and apparatus that may extend from the bridge deck, which will be marked and lit in accordance the Collision Regulations.
A closed (blocked) channel is marked during the day by a series of three shapes in a vertical line comprising ball – triangle – ball, and during the night by a series of three lights in a vertical line comprising red – green – red.
All vessels operating within 100 metres of the works must comply with the 4 knot speed limit and must minimise wash.
This navigation warning remains in place for the duration of the works.
Roads and Maritime advises that in relation to the Area;
- Persons within the vicinity of the works must comply with any directions given by a Boating Safety Officer or Police Officer in relation to the works or to marine safety. Failure to comply with any such direction is an offence (Marine Safety Act 1998, s.15A - Maximum Penalty $3,300.00).
- Vessels are required to maintain a safe distance and speed from the works and operators are reminded that the production of wash which impacts unreasonably on the works is an offence (Marine Safety Regulation 2016 – clause 11) - Maximum Penalty $5,500.00)
