Forster/Tuncurry Bridge, Wallis Lake
Daylight hours - Monday 20 to Sunday 26 November 2017


Vessel operators are advised that test drilling works on the Forster/Tuncurry Bridge structure will be conducted from sunrise to sunset between Monday 20 and Sunday 26 November 2017. 

The Works will involve two barges that will be restricted in their ability to manoeuvre. Navigational access through bridge spans where work is being performed will be prohibited and these spans will be marked with channel blocked day shapes and channel blocked lights at night. All barges and blocked channels will be marked in accordance with requirements of the International Regulations for the Prevention of Collisions at Sea. 

Underwater hazards such as anchors and anchor cables will be clearly marked with yellow floating buoys which will display flashing yellow/orange lights between sunset and sunrise.


Vessel operators are advised to exercise extreme caution when navigating in the vicinity of the works, and to pay particular attention to work vessels and buoyed off areas. This navigation warning remains in place for the duration of the works. Vessel operators are to reduce speed to four knots or less when within 100 metres of any work barge or marked work zone. Unauthorised vessels are prohibited from operating within 100 metres of the bridge works.


Roads and Maritime advises:

  1. Persons within the vicinity of the works must comply with any directions given by a Boating Safety Officer or Police Officer in relation to the works or to marine safety. Failure to comply with any such direction is an offence (Marine Safety Act 1998, s.15A - Maximum Penalty $3,300.00).
  2. Vessels are required to maintain a safe distance and speed from the works and operators are reminded that the production of wash which impacts unreasonably on the works is an offence (Marine Safety Regulation – clause 11(2)) - Maximum Penalty $5,500.00)
