THE WORKS

Vessel operators are advised that Delaney Civil Pty Ltd will be constructing the new Bruxner Highway Bridge over the Clarence River at Tabulam, immediately downstream of the existing Tabulam Bridge. Part of the works includes the removal of the old bridge. The works are scheduled to commence on Thursday 31 August 2017 and are scheduled to be completed by 30 April 2019.

SPECIAL EVENT/CONSTRUCTION ZONE

Due to the potential to affect the safety of navigation, vessel operators are advised that a Special Event Area/Construction Zone (‘the Zone’) will be established pursuant to Section 12(2) of the Marine Safety Act 1998 around the works on the navigable waters of the Clarence River at the Tabulam Bridge between the above dates.

This Special Event/Construction Zone will extend 50 metres upstream of the existing Tabulam Bridge and 50m downstream of the new Tabulam Bridge.

A navigation channel indicated by port (red) and starboard (green) buoys will be in place for the duration of the works to allow vessels to transit through the area.

NAVIGATION RESTRICTION AND WARNING

Vessel operators are advised that a 4 knot speed restriction applies within the Special Event/Construction Zone.

Vessel operators are to exercise caution when navigating in the vicinity of the works and pay particular attention to construction work vessels, barges, anchoring cables, lighting & day shapes and any advisory signage.

This navigation restriction and warning remains in place for the duration of the works.

DIRECTIONS

Roads and Maritime advise that in relation to the Zone;

  1. Persons within the vicinity of the Zone must comply with any directions given by any Boating Safety Officer or Police Officer in relation to the Special Event or to marine safety. Failure to comply with any such direction is an offence (Marine Safety Act 1998, s.15A - Maximum Penalty $3,300.00).
  2. No unauthorised vessels or persons are permitted to enter the Zone and to do so may be an offence (Marine Safety Act 1998, s.12(5) - Maximum Penalty $1,100.00)
