Pacific Highway bridge demolition & reconstruction
From 8 September 2017 to approximately 15 December 2017
Vessel operators are advised that Roads and Maritime Services contractors, Pacific Complete and Georgiou Group Pty Ltd will be demolishing the Emigrant Creek and Duck Creek road bridges simultaneously. The works will commence on Friday 8 September 2017 and will continue for approximately 12 weeks and are due for completion on Friday 15 December 2017. Navigation in the vicinity will be prohibited for the duration of the works.
Bridge demolition works will be undertaken from North to South with replacement bridges under construction as the initial demolition works take place. A series of lit yellow special marks indicating the Exclusion Zone will be positioned at the confluence of the tributaries and to an area approximately 100 metres upstream of the demolition works.
Work barges, heavy anchor cables, overhead heavy machinery will be on site and advisory signage will be displayed at various locations for the duration of works.
NAVIGATION RESTRICTION AND WARNING
Vessel operators are advised that navigation is not permitted through the Exclusion Zone for the duration of the works. Work vessels and barges will display appropriate day shapes and lighting, anchoring cables will be illuminated and advisory signage will be displayed accordingly.
This Exclusion Zone remains in place for the duration of the works.
Roads and Maritime Services advises:
- Persons within the vicinity of the works must comply with any directions given by a Boating Safety Officer or Police Officer in relation to the works or to marine safety. Failure to comply with any such direction is an offence (Marine Safety Act 1998, s.15A - Maximum Penalty $3,300.00).
- Vessels are required to maintain a safe distance and speed from the works and vessel operators are reminded that the production of wash which impacts unreasonably on the works is an offence (Marine Safety Regulation – clause 11(2)) - Maximum Penalty $5,500.00)
