MAINTENANCE TO MISSINGHAM BRIDGE
Mid October 2016 to end February 2017
Vessel operators are advised that Roads and Maritime Services will be conducting maintenance to the Southern Bridge pylons of Missingham Bridge at the confluence of North Creek and the Richmond River at Ballina from mid October 2016 to the end of February 2017.
Various Commercial barges will be onsite and vessel operators are advised additional signage and navigational markers will be in place.
Vessel operators are advised to exercise extreme caution when navigating in the vicinity of the works area. Operators must reduce speed to 4 knots when within 100 metres of the work barge and minimise wash.
At times the bridge spans will be closed to navigation with appropriate day shapes and lighting in place.
Roads and Maritime advises:
- Persons within the vicinity of the works must comply with any directions given by a Boating Safety Officer or Police Officer in relation to the works or to marine safety. Failure to comply with any such direction is an offence (Marine Safety Act 1998, s.15A - Maximum Penalty $3,300.00).
- Vessels are required to maintain a safe distance and speed from the works and operators are reminded that the production of wash which impacts unreasonably on the works is an offence (Marine Safety Regulation – clause 11) - Maximum Penalty $5,500.00)
