Navigation Restriction - Batemans Bay - Dredging Operations
Entrance Bar to the Clyde River, Batemans Bay
16 September to 16 December 2016
Roads and Maritime Services advises vessel operators that dredging on the Batemans Bay bar, Clyde River, will occur from 16 September to 16 December 2016.
Vessels should continue using the leading shapes and lights as an aid to navigating the Batemans Bay bar, and should exercise additional caution when navigating near the confluence of Batemans Bay and the Clyde River.
Vessel operators should exercise caution in this area and maintain a safe distance from the dredge and floating pipeline.
Dredging operations will occur during daylight hours only however the dredge and associated equipment may remain in position overnight.
The pipeline is marked by yellow lights and floats and the dredge will display the required shapes and lights as illustrated below.
Vessel operators are reminded to pass the dredge only on the side with two diamond shapes (two green lights between sunset and sunrise).
This navigation warning remains in place for the duration of the works.
Roads and Maritime advises that in relation to the Area;
a. Persons within the vicinity of the works must comply with any directions given by a Boating Safety Officer or Police Officer in relation to the works or to marine safety. Failure to comply with any such direction is an offence (Marine Safety Act 1998, s.15A - Maximum Penalty $3,300.00).
b. Vessels are required to maintain a safe distance and speed from the works and operators are reminded that the production of wash which impacts unreasonably on the works is an offence (Marine Safety Regulation 2016 – clause 11) - Maximum Penalty $5,500.00)
