URGENT REPAIRS TO BRIDGE OPENING SPAN
Saturday 8 October 2016 until further notice
Roads and Maritime Services advises vessel operators that urgent maintenance works will be conducted on the Clyde River Bridge (Princes Highway at Batemans Bay), commencing Saturday 8 October 2016 until further notice (weather permitting).
The bridge maintenance works includes repairs to the mechanical and electrical components of the bridge lift span.
From Saturday 8 October 2016 the lifting bridge span will remain closed until such time that the repairs are completed.
Vessel operators are advised the air draft (clearance height) is 3.6 metres through the lifting span when in the closed position.
This navigation warning remains in place for the duration of the works.
Roads and Maritime advises that in relation to the Area;
- Persons within the vicinity of the works must comply with any directions given by a Boating Safety Officer or Police Officer in relation to the works or to marine safety. Failure to comply with any such direction is an offence (Marine Safety Act 1998, s.15A - Maximum Penalty $3,300.00).
- Vessels are required to maintain a safe distance and speed from the works and operators are reminded that the production of wash which impacts unreasonably on the works is an offence (Marine Safety Regulation 2016 – clause 11) - Maximum Penalty $5,500.00)
