(Marine Safety Act 1998 s.12)
Lake Albert, Wagga Wagga
6:00pm to 10:00pm – Saturday 23 September 2017
Vessel operators are advised that a Special Event pursuant to Section 12(2) of the Marine Safety Act 1998 is to be held on Lake Albert, Wagga Wagga, between 6:00pm and 10:00pm on Saturday 23 September 2017.
Due to the potential to affect the safety of navigation, Roads and Maritime Services have declared an Exclusion Zone (‘the Zone’) which will be established on the whole of Lake Albert between the above times. This will in effect close the Lake for the duration.
Unauthorised vessels and persons are strictly prohibited from entering the exclusion zone (the Lake) which will be marked by local signage, barricading, monitored by official vessels and may be patrolled by Roads and Maritime vessels.
This exclusion zone immediately follows an exclusion zone specified in Marine Notice SO1751 for a power boat circuit race on Lake Albert from 8:00am to 6:00pm.
Roads and Maritime advises that in relation to the Zone:
- Persons within the vicinity of the Exclusion Zone must comply with any directions given by a Boating Safety Officer or Police Officer in relation to the Special Event or to marine safety. Failure to comply with any such direction is an offence (Marine Safety Act 1998, s.15A - Maximum Penalty $3,300.00).
- No unauthorised vessels are permitted to enter the Exclusion Zone and to do so may be an offence (Marine Safety Act 1998, s12(5) - Maximum Penalty $1,100.00)
