Navigation restriction - Elouera Beach, Bate Bay - Personal watercraft events

s.12 Marine Safety Act 1998)

Elouera Beach, Bate Bay
7am to 5pm – Thursday 26, Friday 27 & Saturday 28 October 2017

Vessel operators are advised that a Special Event pursuant to Section 12(2) of the Marine Safety Act 1998 is to be held on Bate Bay at Elouera Beach, between an area known as “The Wall” at North Cronulla and the Elouera Surf Lifesaving Clubhouse and between 7:00am and 5:00pm on Thursday 26, Friday 27 and Saturday 28 October, 2017.

Due to the potential to affect the safety of navigation, Roads & Maritime has granted an Exclusive Use Aquatic License to New South Wales Freeride Association Inc. to conduct the events, and an Exclusion Zone (‘the Zone’) will be established on the navigable waters of Bate Bay as depicted in the attached map, being an area parallel to Elouera Beach between an area known as “The Wall” at North Cronulla and the Elouera Surf Lifesaving Clubhouse, between the above times and dates. The course will run approximately 400 metres along the beach and 150 metres seaward into Bate Bay, and may be moved further north along the beach in the event of large seas.

The Zone will be marked by buoys and will be monitored by control vessels.

Roads & Maritime advises:

  1. Persons within the vicinity of the Zone must comply with any directions given by a Boating Safety Officer or Police Officer in relation to the Special Event or to marine safety. Failure to comply with any such direction is an offence (Marine Safety Act 1998, s.15A - Maximum Penalty $3,300.00).
  2. No unauthorised vessels are permitted to enter the Zone and to do so may be an offence (Marine Safety Act 1998, s.12(5) - Maximum Penalty $1,100.00)
