PERSONAL WATERCRAFT EVENTS
7:00am to 4:00pm – Friday 21 to Sunday 23 October 2016
Vessel operators are advised that Roads & Maritime Services has declared that the above events, which are to be held on Bate Bay at Wanda Beach, between 7:00am and 4:00pm on Friday 21, Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 October 2016, are Special Events pursuant to Section 12(2) of the Marine Safety Act 1998.
SPECIAL EVENT & EXCLUSIVE USE AREA
Due to the potential to affect the safety of navigation, Roads & Maritime has granted an Exclusive Use Aquatic License to New South Wales Freeride Association Inc. to conduct the events, and a Special Event/Exclusive Use Area (‘the Area’) will be established on the navigable waters of Bate Bay as depicted in the attached map, being an area parallel to Wanda Beach adjacent to the Wanda Surf Lifesaving Clubhouse, between the above times and dates. The course will run approximately 400 metres along the beach and 150 metres seaward into Bate Bay, and may be moved further to the north along the beach in the event of storm size seas.
The Area will be marked by buoys and will be monitored by control vessels.
Roads & Maritime advises:
- Persons within the vicinity of the Area must comply with any directions given by a Boating Safety Officer or Police Officer in relation to the Special Event or to marine safety. Failure to comply with any such direction is an offence (Marine Safety Act 1998, s.15A - Maximum Penalty $3,300.
- No unauthorized vessels are permitted to enter the Area and to do so may be an offence (Marine Safety Act 1998, s.12(6) - Maximum Penalty $1,100.00)
