Brisbane Water Drive and Manns Road at West Gosford

The major upgrade of the Central Coast Highway at the intersection of Brisbane Water Drive and Manns Road at West Gosford was completed in November 2015.

The upgrade involved widening and realigning Brisbane Water Drive and Manns Road on the Central Coast Highway to form a single intersection with traffic lights.

Roads and Maritime Services completed the Central Coast Highway upgrade at Brisbane Water Drive and Manns Road, more than seven months ahead of schedule.

Project background

The Central Coast Highway is a major road link between the M1 Pacific Motorway and Gosford, Erina and the coastal suburbs.

Brisbane Water Drive and Manns Road are important links between Gosford, Woy Woy and Narara. These roads provide access to railway stations, local businesses and retail centres, the Central Coast Highway and the M1 Pacific Motorway.

Major construction activities started in November 2013 and involved widening and realigning Brisbane Water Drive and Manns Road on the Central Coast Highway to form a single intersection with traffic lights.

A range of work was carried out on the roads surrounding the intersection to improve traffic flow and access, including construction of the new Grieve Close connection road.

Project objectives

The upgrade has:

  • Improved traffic flow
  • Improved safety
  • Accommodated traffic growth for at least the next 20 years.

Project benefits

The upgrade will provide a range of benefits for businesses, motorists and the community, including:

  • The newly aligned intersection at Brisbane Water Drive and Manns Road will substantially improve traffic flow and improve access to local businesses
  • The Central Coast Highway westbound exit ramp onto the newly constructed Grieve Close underpass will provide improved access to local businesses
  • The traffic lights at Manns Road and Grieve Close intersection will provide access into Grieve Close and the link road connecting to Dyer Crescent
  • Improved access to new developments including the Riverside Park
  • Urban design improvements will improve the visual appeal and amenity in the commercial area
  • Shared pedestrian and cycle paths along the Central Coast Highway, Manns Road and Brisbane Water Drive will improve connectivity to existing paths.
