Cabbage Tree Road, Williamtown

The NSW Government is providing $1.35 million funding to rebuild a 1.6 kilometre section of road on Cabbage Tree Road at Williamtown between Barrie Close and Nelson Bay Road. Roads and Maritime has engaged Port Stephens Council to carry out this work on our behalf.

Updates and announcements

Cabbage Tree Road will be temporarily closed for westbound motorists while work is carried out from Monday 9 October until Friday 1 December. The road will remain open for eastbound motorists with minor delays.

Detours will be in place for westbound vehicles via Medowie and Richardson Roads toward Raymond Terrace or Nelson Bay Road toward Newcastle. Access will be maintained for emergency services.

The detour is expected to add up to an extra 20 minutes travel time to journeys.
