Background

Bourke Street is a busy pedestrian route used by a high volume of people accessing North Wollongong train station, North Wollongong beach and the numerous bars, restaurants and recreational facilities in the area.

Overview

The NSW Government has allocated $100,000 to investigate pedestrian safety improvements at the intersection of Bourke Street, Keira Street and Virginia Street, North Wollongong.

Roads and Maritime Services is proposing to install traffic lights to provide signalised pedestrian crossings on all four legs of the intersection.

Community engagement

Roads and Maritime Services invited feedback on the proposal to install traffic lights at this intersection in June and July. Please view or download the proposed concept design.
