Point-to-point speed enforcement
The point-to-point speed enforcement on heavy vehicle travel times is now operating on Picton Road.
Point-to-point enforcement works by measuring the time it takes a heavy vehicle to travel between two points using cameras and then calculates the average speed of the vehicle. If the vehicle's average speed is higher than the speed limit for the length of the road, the driver will be infringed for speeding.
The point-to-point cameras will be accompanied by a highly visible advance warning sign. This roadside sign displays a camera icon and a warning message which reads "Average speed safety camera".
This enforcement will be in addition to existing police enforcement activities on the road.
