Project background

Project background

The need to improve this section of road was identified in the draft Oxley Highway Corridor Strategy. With a history of crashes at this location, it was identified as one of the three highest risks areas along the Oxley Highway.

Roads and Maritime is developing plans to remove several tight curves at this location. The objectives of the project are to:

  • improve the road geometry
  • improve safety
  • widen the road shoulders
  • improve drainage.

Review of environmental factors

A review of environmental factors (REF) has been prepared to determine the environmental impact of the project to inform the concept design and construction.

Please view or download the draft Review of Environmental Factors.

Next steps

We are in the process of refining the design and carrying out environmental assessments.

It is expected construction will start in the first half of 2018 and will take about eighteen months to complete, weather permitting.

We will keep the community informed as the project progresses.
