Soft soil (wave 2) Whytes Lane to Pimlico Road

Soft soil work is 90 per cent complete, current activities include:

  • Removal of houses and sheds
  • Building a storage area for heavy vehicles
  • Wick drain installation
  • Vegetation clearing and grubbing
  • Environmental monitoring of dust, noise and water quality
  • Survey work
  • Removal and temporary stockpiling of topsoil and mulch
  • Placing general fill for embankments.

Upcoming activities involve:

  • Installing and taking readings from instruments measuring ground settlement
  • Placing earth fill at various locations across the project
  • Placing general fill for embankments
  • Installing earth mounds and environmental controls.

Traffic changes

To improve safety during building, the speed limit on this section of the highway has been reduced to 80km. This speed limit will remain in place for the duration of the project.
