Boundary Street and Babbage Road - Roseville to Roseville Chase

The Sydney Clearways Strategy identified Boundary Street, Babbage Road and Warringah Road between Pacific Highway, Roseville to Roseville Bridge, Roseville Chase as a route for the introduction of new clearways and changes to the existing clearways to better manage congestion on Sydney's road network.

Updates and announcements

Roads and Maritime Services is introducing new and extended clearways on Boundary Street, Babbage Road and Warringah Road from Pacific Highway, Roseville to Roseville Bridge, Roseville Chase (refer to proposed clearway hours section for hours of operation).

The new clearway will remove four on-street parking spaces from Boundary Street in front of businesses at Roseville Chase Shop.

We are working with Ku-ring-gai Council to offset this loss of business parking through the provision of additional timed on-street parking for business customers near Roseville Chase Shops (refer to additional parking arrangements section for location).

We invite your feedback on the alternate parking arrangements by Friday 3 November 2017.

Background

The NSW Government announced the Sydney Clearways Strategy as one of its key initiatives to reduce congestion on Sydney’s major roads. $121 million was committed to implementing the strategy and installing new clearways on Sydney’s road network.

Installing new and extended clearways on weekdays and weekends can help reduce congestion in many areas of Sydney by allowing motorists to use all traffic lanes.

Since 2013, we have installed over 220 kilometres of new and extended clearways across some of Sydney’s busiest road corridors. We are continuing to investigate where new and extended clearways would help ease congestion and establish more reliable travel times for motorists across the network.

Proposed clearway hours

Roads and Maritime Services is introducing new and extended clearways on Boundary Street, Babbage Road and Warringah Road from Pacific Highway, Roseville to Roseville Bridge, Roseville Chase. The new and extended clearways will operate in both directions from:

  • 6am to 7pm on weekdays
  • 9am to 6pm on weekends and public holidays.

The existing parking restrictions on Boundary Street, Babbage Road and Warringah Road will continue to operate outside the clearway times.

Extending the hours of operation of the clearways ensures all lanes are available to traffic and allows motorists to use the kerbside lane on approach to Clive Street which leads onto Eastern Valley Way.

Additional parking arrangements

Roads and Maritime is working with Ku-ring-gai Council to seek agreement on the provision of additional timed on-street parking for business customers nearby. This will supplement the existing available customer parking in nearby council car parks and in side streets.

Subject to Council agreement, the improved parking arrangements could include the provision of:

  • four ‘1P’ parking spaces (two on Rowe Street and two on Allan Street).

The existing loading and mail zone on Rowe Street will be retained.

A map showing the additional parking arrangements can be found in the October 2017 project update.
