Changes to bus stops in Castle Hill and Baulkham Hills (route M61)

Transport for NSW is improving bus on-time running along the Castle Hill to Sydney bus corridor

Updates and announcements

Road and Maritime Services invited feedback in May and June 2017 on improving the on-time running along the Castle Hill to M2 Motorway bus corridor.

We received a total of 99 submissions in response to the display of the Review of Environmental Factors (REF). We would like to thank everyone for their comments. The feedback included comments about access, additional walking distances, decreased pedestrian safety and overall justification.

Changes to some stops will be on:

  • Old Northern Road, Castle Hill and Baulkham Hills
  • Windsor Road, Baulkham Hills

Roads and Maritime summarised the feedback, concerns raised and our responses into a Submissions Report (PDF, 1.87Mb) and Appendix B (PDF, 21.5Mb), which can be viewed from 12 February 2018.

Project background

The NSW Government has fully funded the Bus Priority Infrastructure Program. The program aims to improve the reliability of bus services on Sydney’s main bus corridors.

The proposed changes are part of ‘Sydney’s Bus Future’, the NSW Government’s plan to redesign Sydney’s bus network to meet customer needs now and into the future. For more information please visit Sydney's Bus Future.

These changes have been developed by Transport for NSW and Roads and Maritime, in consultation with Sydney Buses. Local councils were consulted as part of the early planning work.

Key outcomes of the proposal

  • Making travel times more reliable for customers
  • Contributing to the NSW Government’s target of 95 per cent on-time running of bus services.

Community engagement

We assessed the environmental impacts of these changes to bus services along the Castle Hill to Sydney bus corridor (route M61) in a report of findings called a Review of Environmental Factors (REF). It was on public display from Monday 15 May to Friday 16 June 2017.

What happens next?

The changes will be implemented between March and June 2018.

We will continue to liaise with the community throughout the project
