Carlingford Road – Pennant Hills Road, Carlingford and Beecroft Road, Epping

The Sydney Clearways Strategy identified Carlingford Road between Pennant Hills Road, Carlingford and Beecroft Road, Epping as a route for the introduction of new clearways and changes to the existing clearways to better manage congestion on Sydney's road network.

Updates and announcements

Roads and Maritime Services is introducing new weekend and extended weekday clearways on Carlingford Road between Pennant Hills Road, Carlingford and Beecroft Road, Epping.

The new and extended clearways will operate in both directions on Carlingford Road from:

  • 6am to 7pm on weekdays
  • 9am to 6pm on weekends and public holidays.

The new clearways will help traffic flow by restricting parking during the clearway hours and allowing vehicles to be towed if they stop illegally or breakdown.

The new and extended clearways will be operational on Carlingford Road from Monday 5 February 2018.

Background

The NSW Government announced the Sydney Clearways Strategy as one of its key initiatives to reduce congestion on Sydney’s major roads. $121 million was committed to implementing the strategy and installing new clearways on Sydney’s road network.

Installing new and extended clearways on weekdays and weekends can help reduce congestion in many areas of Sydney by allowing motorists to use all traffic lanes.

Since 2013, we have installed over 270 kilometres of new and extended clearways across some of Sydney’s busiest road corridors. We are continuing to investigate where new and extended clearways would help ease congestion and establish more reliable travel times for motorists across the network.

What is a clearway?

A clearway is a section of road where stopping and parking is not allowed during the times shown on the clearway sign. Clearways are put on key arterial roads where traffic is often heavy and congested.

You must not stop or park on a length of road signed as a clearway during its hours of operation. If your vehicle is parked in a clearway during its hours of operation, it will risk being towed and fines applied. Public buses and taxis are permitted to stop in a clearway to set down or pick up passengers.

Clearway hours

The new and extended clearways will operate in both directions on Carlingford Road from:

  • 6am to 7pm on weekdays
  • 9am to 6pm on weekends and public holidays.
