About this project

Project background

Between 28 August 2005 and 29 April 2008, 99 crashes were recorded on Fullers Road and Millwood Avenue, Chatswood between the Pacific Highway and Lady Game Drive.

To improve safety on Fullers Road, Roads and Maritime Services has implemented the following:

  • June 2006 - installation of taller re-directive kerbing on the northern side of Fullers Road near the Range Street intersection
  • June 2007 - installation of enhanced road surface skid resistance and line marking near the Millwood Avenue and Range Street intersection
  • April 2008 - a reduction in the speed limit from 60 km/h to 50 km/h
  • September 2008 - removal of parking between Davies Street and McLean Avenue (eastbound) and removal of some parking west of Edgar Street

Between 30 April 2008 and 31 December 2010, 64 crashes were recorded on this same stretch of road.

Despite the decline in crashes, a significant number are still occurring. These are predominantly rear end crashes, lane change crashes and crashes involving vehicles turning at intersections.
