Intersection improvements on Hoxton Park Road and Hill Road Lurnea

Updates and announcements

Roads and Maritime Services are now seeking community feedback on a proposed night work construction schedule by Friday 9 December.

We are proposing to work up to five nights a week for 12 weeks of the proposed 30 week construction period from early 2017, with noisier work until midnight, including public holidays. Alternatively, we could work two nights a week for 58 weeks. This would extend the 30 week construction period by 28 weeks. Night time work would include up to 60 night shifts between 8pm and 5am.

Roads and Maritime Services will also be carrying out investigation work, to further inform the design.

The work will be carried out over 3 day shifts between Thursday 8 December and Thursday 22 December, weather permitting. Our working hours will be from 10am to 3pm.

Project background

The NSW Government is funding this work as part of its $300 million Urban Roads Pinch Point Program, which aims to reduce congestion and improve travel times on Sydney’s busiest corridors.

Project features

The proposed left turn lane would:

  • Help prevent motorists turning left into Hill Road from slowing down westbound traffic
  • Reduce congestion by allowing westbound traffic to move through the intersection faster
  • Improve safety by reducing the number of rear-end crashes and crashes from motorists changing lanes.

Community engagement

Roads and Maritime sought feedback on the proposal in July 2016. All comments received are being considered as part of the design process.

What happens next?

We will continue to keep the community informed as the proposal progresses.
