New and extended clearways on King Georges Road

Between Stoney Creek Road, Beverly Hills and Princes Highway, Blakehurst

Updates and announcements

Roads and Maritime Services is extending the existing weekday clearway hours and introducing new weekend clearway on King Georges Road between Stoney Creek Road, Beverly Hills and Princes Highway, Blakehurst to reduce congestion, improve journey times, and improve safety.

Before the new clearway hours are introduced, Roads and Maritime is asking for feedback on the proposed alternate business customer parking options that will offset the business customer parking spaces being removed by the clearway.

We invite your feedback on the alternative business customer parking arrangements by Friday 15 December. Please send your comments to:

We will consider your feedback on the proposed alternate parking arrangements and will continue to update you as the project progresses.

Background

The NSW Government announced the Sydney Clearways Strategy as one of its key initiatives to reduce congestion on Sydney’s major roads. $121 million was committed to implementing the strategy and installing new clearways on Sydney’s road network.

Installing new and extended clearways on weekdays and weekends can help reduce congestion in many areas of Sydney by allowing motorists to use all traffic lanes.

Since 2013, we have installed over 270 kilometres of new and extended clearways across some of Sydney’s busiest road corridors. We are continuing to investigate where new and extended clearways would help ease congestion and provide more reliable travel times for road users across the network. You can find further information on the Sydney Clearways Strategy page.

Alternate business parking proposal

Roads and Maritime investigated business customer parking options along King Georges Road and identified alternate customer parking in side streets to offset the parking spaces that will be removed by the clearways on King Georges Road.

We are asking for your feedback on the proposed alternate business parking arrangements (subject to council approval), which could include introducing additional timed parking during weekend clearway hours on:

  • Allen Street – seven ‘1P’ parking spaces
  • The Allen Street car park – six ‘1/2P’ parking spaces
  • Short Street – three ‘1/2P’ parking spaces
  • Blakesley Road – three ‘1/2P’ parking spaces

Roads and Maritime is working with Georges River Council on these alternate business parking options. A map showing the alternate parking options can be found in the November 2017 Project Update (PDF, 3343Kb).
